Abstract & Keywords

Traditional field verification of surveyed land boundaries relies on manual measurements, making the process time-consuming and prone to human error. This paper presents a GPS-based mobile field verification system that separates office-based boundary creation from on-site verification using a PostGIS-backed geospatial database. The proposed system stores spatial data using the **GEOGRAPHY** data type with **SRID 4326**, enabling accurate geodesic distance calculations. During field verification, each boundary vertex is validated only when two conditions are simultaneously satisfied: the measured distance error is **≤ 2 m** and the reported GPS accuracy is **≤ 3 m**, with the position remaining stable for **1.5 s** before acceptance. A mobile application provides real-time navigation, distance-to-target, and GPS accuracy feedback, allowing surveyors to verify boundary points efficiently. Field evaluation on **45 land parcels** demonstrated a **96.7% first-attempt verification success rate**, reducing the average verification time from **38 minutes** using conventional methods to **11 minutes** while achieving a mean boundary error of **1.4 m**. The results indicate that integrating GPS-based verification with a PostGIS geospatial database significantly improves both the efficiency and reliability of land boundary verification for practical surveying applications.
